Salvia Divinorum is a very psychoactive plant. It gives effects that cannot be compared to those of other hallucinogenic drugs. It gives a very personal experience. The effects can range from subtle to extremely intense. Of course, this depends on several factors, such as dosage, strength, environment and mood. Read the information carefully.
Normally you use Salvia with leaves or as a herbal extract, but now there is something new: Salvia as a spray! So super convenient to use, you don't have to chew or smoke anything. The liquid extract has the strength of 13x, so 13x as strong as the dried leaves and almost as strong as the 15x herbal extract. The spray contains 1 ml.
As mentioned, the effects are personal and therefore difficult to predict in advance. In any case, be well prepared. Use it in a quiet, familiar environment, such as on your couch with the curtains drawn. Be accompanied by a trusted person who remains sober (a sitter). Always start with a cautious dose. Short term
As mentioned, the duration of a salvia trip is generally relatively short. When smoking the extract, the effect is usually noticeable within 1 minute and can reach its peak between 5 and 10 minutes. After that, the effect disappears slowly and you will be out within half an hour, although you may still feel light for a few hours.
The fact that the effect is so short may make it attractive to beginners. However, don't mistake the intensity of Salvia. As a beginner, therefore, definitely start with a low dose and/or strength.
The Salvia trip scale
Because there are several strengths, with which you can also play in terms of dose, a considerable variety of effects is possible. Some possible feelings during a salvia trip: dreamlike blanket over the world, enormous laughter, contemplative tranquility, bright colors and patterns, deeper understanding, complete confusion, flying, floating, levitating, being in contact with a greater whole, underground or being underwater, traveling in time and place, or being an object (a wall, bench, chair, etc.).
The S-A-L-V-I-A trip scale describes the 6 levels. Most of the time you will stay in the first 3/4 levels.
* S - Subtle effects. Relaxation, increased sensory perception, uncontrolled laughter.
* A - Alternate sighting. Colors and patterns draw attention, thoughts become illogical.
* L - Light visions. Psychedelic effects with eyes closed,
* V - Visions. Complex 3-dimensional, realistic visions. Dream state. Fantasy world with closed eyes.
* I - Loss of identity. Fusion with objects, unification with the universe, the divine.
* A - Amnesia. Loss of consciousness. It is possible for a person to fall, stay stiff, or go sleepwalking. Not recommended.
The active substance in Salvia is Salvinorin A. The reason why salvinorin A has a psychoactive effect is unknown, but some things are known about its neurological effect. Salvinorin A is a strong selective kappa opioid receptor agonist. This means that it binds to a certain group of proteins (in this case the kappa-opioid receptors) in the body that are actively stimulated by it. This causes a hallucinogenic, visionary state of consciousness.
Salvia Divinorum is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae), which also includes Salvia officinalis - or sage. However, this Salvia is a lot more interesting. Salvia Divinorum is mainly sold as dried leaves and as an extract, and now as a spray. This is the liquid version of the herbal extract. The extract is made by extracting Salvinorin A from the plant and purifying it. This is then precipitated onto dried leaves. A standardized extract therefore contains pure salvinorin crystals. A 13x extract, as this spray is, means the Salvinorin of 12 parts leaves, mixed with 1 part regular leaves.
Using the spray is super simple: one spray under the tongue is sufficient.
Start slow
The effect and experience differs greatly per person, so you will have to experiment for yourself what works best for you. It is therefore advisable to start with a low extract and a low dose. This spray is of medium strength, so start with a gentle spray. It is tempting to spray more often, but be careful with that. A must is to use Salvia with a sober person with you. It is definitely not a party drug; use it at home, in a quiet environment, possibly with some inspiring music. Sit back or lie back with your eyes closed and enjoy the experience!
Always use your mind!
Salvia Divinorum is not known to be physically addictive or to cause psychological dependence. There are no side effects or aftermath. Although there is no known interaction between Salvia and medicines, you should always be careful. Avoid combinations with alcohol and other psychoactive substances. Do not use Salvia if you have psychological problems, this increases the chance of bad experiences. Never use it alone and always with a sitter.
